For the past three months, Dana Binder has been working as a Legal Extern with LCD. An attorney from Israel, Dana is studying for her Master’s in Law with a focus on Human Rights at Drexel University. She joined LCD as part of a field practicum program, where students can join an organization they find interested and gain experience working in it.
When Dana decided that she wanted to do the field practicum she looked for a public interest organization, specifically one that worked with people with disabilities. Her last job was as a legal advisor with a public interest organization for accessibility called Access Israel. At LCD, a typical day involved legal research, speaking with clients, helping the staff attorneys and helping with intakes.
“For me, the most memorable experience was going to court with clients,” said Dana. “LCD represents clients on many different issues and solves acute problems at no cost. I got the change to help the staff attorneys in court. It was a wonderful experience to help clients have their voices and wishes heard.”
Originally from Israel, Dana is living in Philadelphia while in school. She has a Bachelor’s degree from the College of Management in Israel and has a Teaching Diploma from the Open University in Israel.
