Partnerships are at the heart of LCD’s work. They are crucial to how we deliver services to our clients.

Partners

We work with hospitals and healthcare centers through our Medical-Legal Partnership (MLP) Initiative. We partner with the City of Philadelphia and other service agencies through the Philadelphia Eviction Prevention Project, of which LCD is a founding member. Through our Community Legal Outreach (CLOC) Initiative, we partner with places where people with disabilities live and receive services as well as with volunteers from law firms and corporations.

We also partner with local and state officials and offices, fellow legal aid providers, and other agencies to serve and advocate for our clients and communities.

LCD is a proud member of the Rev UP Philly Coalition, which aims to foster civic engagement and protect the voting rights of Americans with disabilities.

Comcast’s legal departments remain committed to providing pro bono legal services within the greater Philadelphia community and other cities across the country. This commitment starts at the top with our general counsels, who encourage all 250+ lawyers and support staff within the departments to volunteer their time and expertise. On an annual basis, Comcast’s legal departments spend hundreds, even thousands, of volunteer hours providing much needed legal services to individuals who would not otherwise have access or means to receive such guidance. Comcast is especially proud of its partnership with the Legal Clinic for the Disabled, which allows the company to continue its efforts to assist the disabled community in Philadelphia.

Duffy Fellowship

Established by Tom Duffy and The Duffy Firm, the Duffy Fellowship underwrites a staff attorney’s salary at some of Philadelphia’s foremost legal service nonprofit organizations. LCD was honored to be selected as the first recipient of the Duffy Fellowship in 2012. In 2017, Tom and the firm expanded their support of LCD by awarding two Duffy Fellowships to our organization. Our current Duffy Fellow is Supervising Attorney Emily Jenkins.
